Legionella Shower Filter

Legionnaires’ disease is a serious health condition that can have severe and sometimes even fatal consequences. However, the installation of a Legionella shower filter in your care home, hospital or business can offer reliable protection to anyone who uses your facility from this deadly disease and also prevent a potential Legionella outbreak.

AquaCert is a trusted and leading provider of simple yet highly effective solutions to help protect water quality in the UK and parts of Europe. Using the latest innovations and technology, we have helped develop revolutionary Legionella shower filters that prevent Legionella bacteria from contaminating your water supply and causing related diseases.

AquaCert’s Legionella shower filters are beneficial for two main reasons:

  • Clinical The water system of a healthcare facility should be free from Legionella and other bacteria at all times in order to help protect the health and well-being of patients/residents and members of staff.
  • Non-clinical – if bacteria have been found in water systems in your office, care home or sports facility, AquaCert’s shower filter can help you remain operational while the issue is being addressed.

How our shower filter can protect you from waterborne diseases

Showers are a natural breeding ground for Legionella bacteria because they are prone to bacterial colonisation and scale formation. In addition, because they produce aerosols, they can also contribute to the spread of diseases.

An AquaCert Legionella shower filter works by trapping Legionella bacteria in the showerhead and preventing them from reaching the user. Our Legionella filters offer reliable and immediate protection – capturing anything larger than 0.15 microns that’s 500 times smaller than a strand of hair or a grain of salt. This means no bacteria can escape the filter. As well as preventing a Legionella outbreak, they can also help stop the spread of other waterborne diseases by preventing harmful bacteria from passing through the showerhead. For instance, in hospitals, our Legionella water filters can trap waterborne bacteria such as:

  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • E.coli
  • Stenotrophomonas
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis
  • Leptospira
  • Clostridium difficile (C.diff)
  • Campylobacter
  • Klebsiella pneumoniae

We use the most advanced technology to manufacture our Legionella shower filters, and this enables us to create hollow fibres with minute pore sizes. These fibres ensure a high flow rate without causing a significant drop in water pressure

When to replace your shower filter

Without the threat of Legionella, showers can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience for your residents, patients and clients. However, the shower filters must be replaced periodically to ensure reliable and immediate protection.

The lifespan of replacement Legionella filters will depend on the water quality within the facility. They last longer when there is good clean water with no sediment than with water from an untreated borehole feed. For instance, in care homes and hospitals, AquaCert’s filters can last for up to six months.

Shower Filter for Legionella

If you notice a reduced water flow, the Legionella filter may have collected a significant amount of sediment and bacteria, which will clog its pores. When this occurs, you should replace the internal filter cartridge as soon as possible.
