Legionella test kits for Gyms / Fitness Centres

    Danger Areas

Due to the small footprint of gyms & fitness centres, the premises will probably have been former commercial or retail buildings which were subsequently converted (see Old & Refurbished Buildings).

All will have showers which need to be descaled and disinfected every 3 months plus legionella screening to ensure the hygiene regime is effective.

Most modern gyms have drinking water units for their clients to use during exercise. The dispensers on these units need to be sterilised regularly since they are commonly accidentally contaminated when touched with sweaty fingers.

To ensure the sterilisation routines are sufficient, the drinking water units should be tested for:-

    • Total Viable Count at 22°C
    • Total Viable Count at 37°C
    • E.Coli
    • Coliforms
